Mothers with babes in arms were brought from the East End for a rest after childbirth. The home had facilities to house two visiting mothers at a time. There was a resident matron who cared for the mothers. Mothers were asked out to tea by local residents. The stay at the home was usually two weeks. When the home closed the furniture was sold off. Mrs. Whitehead bought a nursing chair. Mrs. Monk, another Post Office wife, who lived at 2, Woodside also helped at the home. the home is thought to have closed with the out break of WWII.
