First Foundation Stone Laid

The foundation stone of the Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church was laid on the Feast of the Annunciation, the 25th of March, the day upon which the Angel Gabriel visited Mary. The stone was laid by Cardinal Bourne, with the building of the church taking longer than originally planned due to the declaration of war on August 4th, 1914.
