Play and Pageant Union puts on "The Cherry Orchard"
The Cherry Orchard was put on in 1936 and is the last play by Anton Chekov. The storyline revolves around an aristocratic Russian woman selling off an estate and cherry orchard following the Liberation of the serfs.
Formed after World War I in 1920 after uniting the Pageant Committee with the indoor dramatic activities of the Suburb, it eventually merged with the Speedwell Players in 1966 to form the Garden Suburb Theatre which is still active now.
