This memorial is to popular sportsman John Edward Raphael, Belgium born, but was capped for England Rugby nine times as well as captaining the British Lions tour to Argentina in 1910 and playing first class cricket for Surrey.

He died in the land of his birth in 1917 at the battle of Messines Redige from wounds.
