Rabbi Bernstein, (1939-1994) was born and raised in Dublin and graduated from Trinity College in Dublin, receiving a masters degree in mathematics. He began his rabbinical career in Dublin in 1961 and in 1971 moved to Hampstead Garden Suburb serving as rabbi there from 1972 until 1977. 

This photograph shows his induction to the Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue.
