This picture is captures a scene from when Lord Mayor of London Sir William Treloar opened up the foundation cottages on the 2nd of October 1907. The house he is appearing out of is 142 Hampstead Way, the rents on the properties were from 32 and a half pence to 33 and a half a week.
This day was long celebrated as Treloar Day and included Pageants and visits from Baby Elephants as seen elsewhere in the Museum.
