About his life:
- Attended Oxford University; initially worked as a teacher in the 1920s.
- Travelled extensively in the 1930s as a special news correspondent; reported on occupied Abyssinia (Ethiopia) following Italy’s invasion in 1935.
- Best known for his satirical novels, including Decline and Fall (1928) and Vile Bodies (1938).
- Brideshead Revisited (1945), adapted for television in 1981.
- Became an avid art collector and enthusiast; began writing art reviews and articles from 1949.
