Millicent Martin was born in Romford, Essex; at age 12 she enrolled in the Italian Conti Stage School. In the mid-1950s she spent three years on Broadway in The Boyfriend in which she played every female part during the run. She then played the show’s lead in the West End. She joined the television show That Was The Week That Was in 1963, for which she won a BAFTA award after which she led her own show, Mainly Millicent. Martin appeared in Side by Side by Sondheim in New York, for which she was nominated for a Tony award and appeared in numerous West End musicals. She was married to the singer Ronnie Carrol; they divorced in 1964. She had a recurring roles in the US TV series Frasier and Grace & Frankie. She lives in the US.
