This memorial in the Lady Chapel to those who had fallen in the war, is surrounded on either side with paintings. On the right Mary is present with the gift of devotion and on the left Martha has the gift of service. This is all beneath the foundation stone, designed by Eric Gill and laid by the Earl of Crewe ten years prior.
