LIEUTENANT JOHN EDGAR HETHERINGTON
2nd Company Canadian Machine Gun Corps.
Died Belgium, 22nd July, 1916

 

The Free Church Manual shows his address as 11 Thyra Grove, North Finchley and he had been an active member of the Free Church. Business took him to Canada where he enlisted and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force. When he fell he had been married just nineteen days. He lies in Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm), Belgium, a cemetery designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and is also remembered on the Free Church memorial.
