PRIVATE ALBERT LAURENCE DOXSEY,

17th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment

Reported missing in France 13th November 1916 aged 25

 

His death was not confirmed for another 7 1/2 months. He was the son of Free Church Treasurer, Albert Benjamin Doxsey and his wife, Annie. Their home was ‘Durlestone’, Heathgate. The church played a large part in his life where he had been a Sunday School teacher, a member of C.Y.P. (Company of Young People) and also sang in the choir. He lies remembered in Serre Road Cemetery No 1 in France, is on the memorial at St Jude’s, and is commemorated at his church - the Free Church.
