He died in an English military hospital after an operation for appendicitis, He had just returned home from Egypt after 2 1/2 years. He is buried in Islington Cemetery where his grave is neglected and overgrown. His name is missing from the official war memorial there, but it appears on the Free Church memorial and is respected and remembered.
